On the eve of Yemen's 26th September Revolution, the local GSM operator, SabaFon completed the most difficult task of expanding its network backbone to the Al - Mahara Governate. SabaFon is the only telecommunications company in Yemen to cover all the 20 Governates of Yemen. This is in line with SabaFon policy to provide coverage to the entire Yemeni population. Within a short span of over 2 years, SabaFon is serving more than 80% of the Yemen population. In addition to this, SabaFon GSM network is also covering all the major highways and cities of Yemen.

This new expansion to Al - Mahara Governate was achieved with an investment of over US$2.2 million in Network backbone expansion. This expansion to the remote Governate will not only provide the advanced telecommunications needs to the population living there but will also initiate the process of regional development and growth.
